I can't really find anything out on their site, so if anyone could give me a walk through on this, I would really appreciate it! :)

Answer
Open up the "Terminal" application and type the following "sudo apt-get install vlc". You will be prompted to enter your password. Once you do that, VLC will download and install.

Linux: Can someone help me with an error regarding video playing at VLC?

Thomas Kin

No suitable decoder module:
VLC does not support the audio or video format "mpga". Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this.
No suitable decoder module:

I run opensuse on my computer and this messange always comes up whenever im going to watch a video and it's basically the same at any other video formats and player.

Can someone help me and try to solve this error?

I'll be grateful.

Answer
You must have a configuration error somewhere on the machine. Provided you do not mess wit the installation on Open Suse you can search their site for players like VLC, and for proper codec. And almost anything will then play on it. Microsoft formats are not well supported, but who wants that junk anyway.

Can the PS3 running Linux, using VLC media player, upconvert quicktime files?

arvin b

We're hoping to screen using an HD projector connected to a PS3 running Linux, a Quicktime File running from VLC media player. Will it actually upconvert (the QT file is SD, DV/NTSC codec), because that's really the only reason we'd choose to run it on a PS3.

Answer
yeah it will do that.
