dsl linux image
Answers
Hello everyone. Recently I got a computer (Dell that must be as old as the Sun) and it runs Windows 98. It works just fine and I like it. Although I do not like Windows 98. Can anyone tell me how to install Linux on the computer using a live CD? Thank You to who ever contributes their answer!
Answer
Try burning a CD with Ubuntu, or possibly due to the age of your computer try damn small Linux or puppy Linux which are smaller distro's, you can download a burner to burn your ISO (disk image) into your cd or even use a USB stick to load it, there are also windows installers (which mean you double click it and it installs throught windows) try using wubi (search google for it) and just follow the simple instructions like any other installer and its ready to go! and by using wubi it automatically can keep your windows 98 and linux installation on the same computer, so you can boot either one easily at startup
Hope it helps :)

Damn Small Linux. How to search your hard drive using DSL. ?
David P
I have Damn Small Linux booted from a CD and I am able to do everything fine. However, what I am trying to do is get files off of my actual hard drive because I can't boot to windows. Is there a way to search the actual hard drive using Damn Small Linux?
Ok, I mounted the Hard Drive. Now what do I do?
Answer
You have to mount the drive. You should see it on your desktop. You should be able to right click and choose mount.

I have a netbook that wont open the windows OS because of a virus, can i put DSL (damn small linux) onto it?
paintfreek
I was just gonna use a jump drive that had it loaded on to it. would the netbook boot from that when i turn it on? Or what should i do? Because the current OS wont boot up.
Answer
Sure, you can do that... just make sure your BIOS is set up to boot from a removable device. DSL would be ok , I would recommend Ubuntu Netbook Remix 10.04 as its interface is geared to the small screen.
