If I download Linux Mint 9 "Isadora"-RC will I be able to just download an update once the full version is out?

You will be able to update to the Final Release using Mint Update. I am sticking with Linux Mint 8 myself as I am not that impressed

how do i download and install programs in linux mint 9?

i recently downloaded linux. which it has ubuntu 10 in it as well. and i am having a hard time trying to install some software, like john the ripper and nmap and so fourth, can someone help me out.. i download it okay. but i cant seem to find the install ,exe file. on none of them. WHY?

NMAP - Menu > Package Manager > then type in "nmap"

John the Ripper - Menu > Package Manager > then type in "john"

But like the other answers said you should read up on Linux before trying stuff like that. i.e. if you don't understand how to use the terminal you'll have a hard time.
