Q. I am using Linux Ubuntu and would like to download movies, but when I try to download the file but it does not start
In applications) internet) transmission bit torrent client) the files report idle, but I know it works because I can test it on another computer using Windows.
Any ideas?

The default Bittorrent client that comes with Ubuntu is Transmission

However now you have gone to the trouble of starting out with Linux why consider infringing copyright with questionable downloads.

I want to install ubuntu by disk booting, i have downloaded the latest version, 9.10, but how do i make a bootable disk/device to install it straight on. Also i cant do it any other way because i have no other OS!

Help installing downloaded package for ubuntu linux?

Q. I downloaded a game called Vdrift for linux, the packege file is on my desktop but I have no idea how to install it with the package manager. Any idea's?

Is the package a .deb?

To install a package manually, open a terminal and go to the directory for the desktop, its probably ~/Desktop, issue the ls command to see files there. If you see the .deb package, then type 'sudo dpkg -i packagename.deb', and that should install it.
