denimcap
Something like cnet, with ratings and etc?
Whenever I want a linux program, I end up having to sift through dozens of websites, making and uninstalling dozens of programs, before I find a decent user friendly interface.

The best way to download linux software is through your distributions built-in package manager. Without knowing your distro, I can't tell you the name, it could be Yum, Synaptic, Yast, or something eles.
It also it looks like you need assistance with finding the right application to use. I would recommend Linux app finder, which sorts popular linux apps by catagory and rates them too. The alternatives link will help you find Linux alternatives for popular Windows apps.

Hello
I'm currently writing my thesis on Linux using Kile (Latex), and I was wondering if any of you had suggestions of good software to use for creating pictures and diagrams for an engineering master Thesis? I only intend to do 2D, but I would like to do it efficiently.
Thanks!
