I just installed thunderbird on my Ubuntu, how can I import the emails and address book from outlook express store folder?
I save the store folder on the disk from outlook express on my laptop (Windows Xp OS).
Any adv?

Answer
if the 2 computers can see each other over a network, then you should be able to do a Tools=>import.

Another way to do it is to run dbx2mbox on your windows machine to convert your dbx files to mbox files. Then you can transfer them to your linux box in mbox format and import them using the ImportExportTools extension.

How to I get to lightning in Mozilla ThunderBird? Linux Ubuntu?

Alex

Answer
Download the addon and in Thunderbird, click Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions. In the extensions tab, in the upper right corner there is a wrench, click that. Then click install addon from file.

Why there are so many steps to install an addon, I will never know.

how to install thunderbird in linux?

Jeff

I need a quick explanation, i downloaded thunderbird and it was tar.gz2, I unpacked it and looked for an exe or something and couldn't find any.

Please give me some quick basic instructions on how to install this, I will read up on everything linux and sign up at the forums later, I just need this asap.

Thanks

Answer
Go inside the thunderbird directory that you unpacked and click on the shell scripted called "thunderbird." That should start and run the application. To make things better you should create an application launcher (icon) that is linked to the shell script.
